Dr. Anastasi is a licensed acupuncturist trained in traditional Chinese medicine. She has been practicing acupuncture for over 20 years and is certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Dr. Anastasi integrates theoretical principles and practices from three perspectives. She holds three advanced degrees; two doctoral degrees; PhD in Research, DrNP Doctor of Nursing Practice and Traditional Chinese Medicine (LAc).
Dr. Anastasi has a successful practice which focuses on woman’s health with an emphasis on fertility. Along with her credentials, she has collaborated with numerous reproductive endocrinologists, treated hundreds of patients over the years. She is well versed on the various types of fertility protocols, diagnostic procedures and challenges faced by her patients throughout this process.
Academic and Scholar
Dr. Anastasi is one of the country's leading clinical scientists in the area of symptom management. She is the Independence Foundation Endowed Professor at New York University. Dr. Anastasi was formerly the Helen F. Pettit Endowed Professor at Columbia University and Director of the Center for AIDS Research and Integrative Therapies in Primary Care Program. Further, she is an outstanding teacher and has received recognition and acclaim through her receipt of the Columbia University Presidential Teaching Award. Dr. Anastasi served on the Advisory Board for the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) report on The Use of Complementary and Alternative Medicine by the American Public. She is also the principal investigator of several clinical trials funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Paramount to her clinical research is that it translates into clinical practice, it is patient-centered, and it has a scientifically rigorous evidence base. Dr. Anastasi authored and developed the Herbs, Nutraceuticals and Dietary Supplements© graduate program funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). She has published extensively in the area of symptom management using non-invasive interventions.
